Low Stats Are Liberating

This is why we should embrace them

Seeing an increase in stats is great.

It is so motivating to see that incline because it signifies that our hard work is finally paying off.

This encourages us to continue to push ourselves so that we can maintain these stats and increase them gradually.

All the while bearing in mind how disappointing it will be if we have a month where we notice a decline.

So what happens when our stats do begin to decline?

There’s no sugarcoating the fact that it sucks.

It felt like we were on a roll and now suddenly things aren’t going as we anticipated.

Motivation starts to wear thin and we don’t feel as excited about the task at hand anymore.

This is completely normal.

It is much easier to feel inspired and motivated when things seem to be going our way. And it’s easy to lose motivation when we don’t see our desired results manifesting for us.

When we finally hit those lows it is actually strangely liberating.

Hear me out.

When we are riding on the highs we know in the backs of our minds that as great as this is; it will be greatly disappointing if we were to take a few steps back. We dread it so much and build it up to be the worst thing ever in our minds.

While it does feel disheartening when it finally does happen, we survived.

We are still here, and we are still standing.

If anything it feels a bit anti-climatic because it really isn’t as bad as we thought it would be.

Sure, it would’ve been nice to keep up our streak but this isn’t always sustainable.

When we finally hit a phase of lower stats we can detach ourselves from the outcome.

It’s normal to become so attached to the outcome when things are going great because it feels good.

This attachment creates a fear of losing what we have, which creates dread within us. But when it finally happens, we can understand that is not as bad as we thought it was and we can move on without feeling down and out.

Detaching ourselves from the outcome keeps us motivated even if the results aren’t what we expected because it will push us to keep showing up even when we don’t feel like it. This is discipline.

Not being attached to our stats, high or low is liberating because we don’t allow them to dictate how we feel and how high or low our motivation levels are.

It seems weird that it is almost beneficial for us to experience the lows but when we get used to detaching ourselves from the result, it becomes easier and easier to pick ourselves back up and move forward every time.
